Description
Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.
“Ardbeg” comes from the Gaelic and translated means something like “small hill”.
The distillery is located on the south coast of the whisky region of Islay.
Since 2017, Weisshaus in Tyrol has had access to rare rarities from the Ardbeg Distillery. Mr. Osler has selected two special barrels on site from the private stocks at Ardbeg.
This Ardbeg matures for 26 years in refill bourbon barrels. Cask 20 is the last cask distilled before Ardbeg was sold to Moet.
