With the Madeira Cask Finish, Woodford Reserve dedicates itself to a maturation method that is rarely found in the American whiskey world. After initial maturation in freshly burnt American white oak casks, the bourbon is transferred to selected Madeira wine casks to receive its finish. This post-maturing gives the whiskey additional depth, fruity complexity and an elegant sweetness – characteristic of the influence of the fortified wine from the Portuguese island of Madeira.
