Description
46% ABV
Orkney is an archipelago of 70 islands, 20 of them inhabited, off the northern coast of Scotland. This bottling is referred to as “An Orkney” because the distiller did not allow Cadenhead, an independent bottler, to name them on the label. There are 2 Malt Whisky distilleries in Orkney, Highland Park and Scapa. We have it on good authority that this whisky comes from the former, not the latter.
100% Bourbon cask aged and it shows with a floral sweetness on the nose. Vanilla cream soda, bananas, and a gentle smokiness. A smooth and well rounded dram, especially for its relatively young age.
Producer Notes:
Our tasting panel commented on the delicious creamy nature of this dram, showcasing prominent notes of budding gorse, custard creams, heather honey and stroopwafels to name a few.
