Since the founding of the Balvenie distillery there have been hardly any changes; the single malts are still produced in the traditional way.

Together with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, The Balvenie is still independent and family-owned by its founders.

The 12-year-old Balvenie Double Wood is first matured in bourbon casks (unverified 10 years). For perfection, it is then post-matured in Spanish sherry first-fill casks.
